Is Your Hamster Ready to Volunteer?

We are looking for a small group of owners to live with the tracker for 3+ months. The sensor is free of charge — no cost, no deposit, nothing to return if it works out.

What we want back is your experience of using it — what would make it easier to set up, where you had to stop and work out what to do next, and what you wish it could tell you about your pet. The next version gets built out of those answers.

No form to fill in. Drop us an email and tell us a little about your pet — what kind they are, the wheel they run on, and how long they have been with you.

Story

It started with a wheel we could hear but not measure

In 2016 there was a wheel turning on the other side of the room for most of the night, and no way of knowing how far it was taking him. Finding out meant building a counter for it. That is the whole origin of Collidera.

The counter became a sensor, the sensor grew a display beside the cage, and the numbers eventually needed somewhere to live — an app, an API, and a leaderboard other owners could join. Collidera is that hobby rig, rebuilt until it was steady enough to hand to someone else.

97.9%

of all recorded running happened between 21:00 and 07:00 — while everyone in the house was asleep.

Barely 0.3% falls in the nine hours from 09:00 to 17:00. You can sit with your pet every evening and still miss almost all of it.

What a long record lets you notice

Diet

Note food changes beside the record, so you can describe what changed and when — without assuming the food caused it.

Season and temperature

Room conditions and time of year move together. Compare quiet nights against busy ones, and watch whether a dip repeats the following year — or does not.

Age

See how a routine shifts across a whole life rather than across a week, as your pet grows older.

Hamster 2, month by month
Same scale as Hamster 1, so the two shapes compare.
Nov–Jan 0 5 10 15 km per night, monthly average Hamster 2 Mar May Jul Sep Nov Jan Mar May Jul

That is why long-term tracking is useful: it keeps a picture of nights you cannot watch and details you might not remember. You can see when a change began, how large it was, and whether it continued.

These observations can support a conversation with a vet; they cannot replace an assessment of your pet. They show you that something changed, never why.

Features

Your pet is an athlete. Treat it like one.

01 — Activity dashboard

Every night, hour by hour

Distance, spins and total distance, with bar and line charts for the last 24 hours, week, month or all time — synced to the cloud and broken down hour by hour.

02 — Leaderboard

See how your pet stacks up

Podium positions, daily, weekly and monthly rankings, cumulative distance — the full picture, updated live.

03 — Multiple pets

One app, every wheel in the house

Hamsters, hedgehogs, degus, even cats — if it runs in a wheel, Collidera counts it. Each gets an avatar, its own wheel size, and its own sensor.
